Certificate of Naturalization

Certificate of naturalization is an official document issued by the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) to the people who have obtained US citizenship through the process of naturalization.

The official form of certificate of naturalization is form N-400. It is being issued since October 1, 1991.

The filing fee for the certificate of naturalization is $675 inclusive of biometric fee of $80. If you are 75 years or more then you are exempted from the biometric fee which implies that a payment of $595 is enough. For military applicants filing application under section 328 and 329 of the INA, there are no fees.

The filing editions must be either dated 15th October 2007 or 30th July 2007 or 31st may 2001 can be used but not earlier than that.

The application form N-400 must be duly filled and coupled with supporting documents and mailed to the service center having jurisdiction over your place of residence. The applicants from California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, territory of Guam, or the commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands must mail the application to California service center. The applicants from Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Ohio, and oregano, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin or Wyoming have to mail the same to Nebraska service center.

The certificate of naturalization is given only for naturalized US citizens. If you are not an US citizen yet, then first get your US citizenship. The certificate of naturalization is different from the certificate of citizenship though the process of getting them is almost similar.

In case of mutilation, destruction, loss, or corrections, then you have to apply for its replacement using form N-565 with an application fee of $380.

It is wise to be aware that there are many fraudulent web sites that claim to provide application forms in downloadable format at specific charges. The latest version of the form can be obtained at USCIS website.
