Primarily any U.S. citizen or a green card holder should file a petition that entitles the petitioning person to vouch for the worthiness and reliability for a person to come in to the U.S. In short the person who is calling you gives the guarantee that you are a reliable foreigner and not dangerous to the U.S. security. The call for a green card can be made for relatives or commercial entrants or other religious people, but varying procedures are applicable under each section. General initiation process applicable to all categories: Green Card Stage 1: Any U.S. citizen or green card holder or U.S. based group or organization who has the right to file the petition for a foreigner is supposed to file in a call petition under the following categories: Call for family based green card, I-130 petition. Employment based green card, I-140 petition. Political asylum related green card, I-589 petition. Refugee based green card, I-730 petition. Adoption based green card, I-600 petition. Diversity lottery based green card, DV-2009 petition or whichever year as mentioned by the Embassy from time to time. So the primary call petition should be filed with the USCIS after which the petition will be scrutinized by the Embassy and will be authorized for further proceedings. Green Card Stage 2: Once the USCIS approves the green card petition the application process for each category varies and the documents and supporting paper works also differ. However it can be further categorized in to. AOS – If the petition beneficiaries are already temporary visa holders they can file for AOS for the respective visa categories. Consular processing- If the petition beneficiaries are not visa holders they may need to approach the Embassy via the U.S. branch consulate in their respective branch nations. Green Card Stage 3: Once the USCIS allots a case number for an application, the appropriate form is to be filed under which the green card is claimed to further progress towards the interview. Green Card Stage 4: Differentiated Categories: Each sanctioned petitions, should be followed with the appropriate series of forms with the necessary documents, which varies with the type of green card one qualifies for. There will be a call for an interview, it should not be missed. After appropriate medical clearance and interview the green card will be sanctioned or declined based on interview results and fulfillment of eligibility requirements as required by the Embassy.
