Immigration and Naturalization

Defining Change in Immigration and Naturalization Services:

As we are all aware there have been many changes in the U.S. over the course of the years and the Department of Immigration and Naturalization is not immune. We often make these changes to satisfy not only immediate needs but to prevent issues in the future as well as needs. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services stopped operations in 2003. Its services were switched to three other offices to handle all services it provided.

History of the INS:

The INS was created many years ago for the purposes of handling immigration issues in the U.S.

It was started when the U. S. Congress found that it should be the responsibility of the Federal government to handle these types of issues. After the Civil war things grew a little bit hectic and to protect the Americans and their positions in society and labor they devised this service. In the 1900’s the full purpose was clear of the INS, this was to protect the Americans and Families. In 1903 the Department of Commerce and Labor was born. However this changed to The Department of Justice in 1940 by none other then Franklin Roosevelt.

The Three Service Providers of the former INS:

When the INS was broken up the jobs and services needed to be also, the U.S. Government decided to split the services into three major groups. The first set was slit into USCIS or the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services which handled all the services related to permanent residency in the U.S., asylum in the United States and Naturalization.

The Second was divided to the ICE or the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement services which handled things like:

Investigation in to illegal matters in the U.S.

All Deportation handled in the United States

Intelligence issues in the United States

And the last sectioning was to the US Customs and Border Protection or the CBP which handled things like:

United States border control

And all the INS inspectors in the United States

Though these services have been divided into many departments it hasn’t hindered the quality of the jobs these services provide. There will continue to be many changes made as time goes on and the United States will continue to improve on the services all ready created. The protections of the United States citizens are still at the top of their list of priorities!
