Green card medical exam requires a series of medical examinations performed to see if the prospective green card applicant has any medical reasons to be denied a green card.

The Communicable Diseases threatening the Public Health like SARS (Severe acute respiratory syndrome), TB (tuberculosis), leprosy, AIDS, syphilis, sexually transmitted diseases similar to AIDs, etcetera.

People with STDs should file a special application form I-602 to waiver cancellation due to STDs with valid proofs that state that your disease will not become a threat to the spread of infection to the country. Refugees do not require such against STD as they are already covered for such under the Federal Funded Programs.

Even if you are found to have physical or mental health problems with associated harmful behavior in the green card medical exam you can still request a waiver for the same. The waiver is subject to terms and conditions as recorded with the USCIS in association with CDC.

There is no waiver applicable for applicants with drug abuse or drug addiction portfolio as detected in the green card medical exam by the qualifying civil surgeons.

General health problems like diabetes, hypertension, asthma, or any other incommunicable disease per green card medical exam may not pose green card denial; however sufficient fund cover or sponsorship or insurance coverage to meet such medical emergencies is important to get the green card with such conditions.

Drug addicts or people with a history of drug abuse can still get a green card if they have a certification of having recovered from such an addiction and should have remained sober for a stipulated period of time. Valid and attested documented proof for such should be produced at the time of the green card medical exam screening.
